Welcome Address by the President, ANIM

The Association of Nigerian Musicologists (ANIM) was established in 1993 at Ilorin, then as Musicological Association of Nigeria (MSN). It holds its annual National conferences in Nigerian Universities as approved at the Annual General meetings. It became an affiliate of International Musicological Society based in Switzerland in 2012.

Our official publication is known as Journal of Nigerian Musicologists (JANIM).


We are committed to the development of music scholarship and practice in Nigeria.


We bring Nigerian and Non-Nigerian musicologists together.

Become a Member

Membership is open to all Nigerian academic and professional musicians; both at home and in the Diaspora. Also, non-Nigerians that teach and research into African music can also become members.
